Is The New Domain Extention .Me a Big Scam?

Get ready for the newest domain extension (.Me) to try and take a bite of the King Dot .Com

.Me Domain name's have finally finished the sunrise period where you were able to register a .me name a head of the general Public (for an additional fee of course)and now anyone can "attempt" to register a name @ $20/year with a two year minimum.

Even thou .me is giving the impression that this is a brand New Start-up, the Internet is getting flooded with report's that it maybe the largest Domain Register on the Planet, Godaddy.com, who is behind this scheme which will most likely go down in History for what Not To Do when introducing a Brand New Domain Extension.

Twitter is getting flooded with report's with several people saying they have all won a particular .me domain name, (aweso.me) payment has been made along with confirmations sent. There is atleast 8 different people that all "Claim They Won That Domain Name".

The story seems to be growing even more as several other people are starting to report at NamePros.com that after searching for available .me domain names directly from GoDaddy.com register, and first finding it available to register at reg fee, registering it, getting a confirmation, then later on getting another email from GoDaddy stating that the domain name was not available after all.

But Guess What?

Now those exact same domain name's are showing up at Auction for you (or anyone else) to bid on them for greatly increased prices over what you found and first regged.

I'm sure this story will continue to grow for sometime as the "Truth" starts to unfold,

but no matter what,

this looks like yet another black eye for the Domain Name Industry as a whole/.

Is .ME just another money hungry domain register looking to do whatever it can to squeeze every penny out of the premium domain names?

or was this just one big computer glitch letting everyone register identical name's and Happily taking payment for all of them?

My Advise:

You might want to hold off on getting a .me domain name for now until the dust settles. You very we'll might be paying for something you will never get.
